How to Track ExoClick Traffic

ClicksTracker has a native ExoClick integration for pop and push campaigns. Connect your account, launch from a ready made template, and capture zone IDs in your custom variables so every conversion traces back to the zone that produced it.

What you will set up

An ExoClick traffic source holding your credentials, a campaign from a template, a Campaign URL that carries ExoClick's tokens, and a two way postback so conversions reach both ClicksTracker and ExoClick. You will use the ten custom tracking variables, v0 through v9, to record zone and site data.

Step by step

1

Add ExoClick as a traffic source

Go to Traffic Sources, click Add Traffic Source, put ExoClick in the name and click Create Traffic Source. ClicksTracker reads the network from the name when the traffic source is created, so the Integration tab appears, and a later rename does not change the network. Open the new traffic source, go to that tab, paste your API Token from the ExoClick dashboard and click Save Credentials. Saving does not call ExoClick, so click Test Connection to validate the token against the ExoClick API.

Set the external ID token to ExoClick's click id, {conversions_tracking}, and map custom variables to the tokens you want to record, for example v0 = {zone_id} and v1 = {site_id}. You set these on the traffic source's Settings tab and save them with Update Traffic Source; the create form has the same fields in its Traffic Source Parameters table, where Add Variable adds a custom variable row.

2

Create a campaign from a template

Use the built-in iOS, Android, or Desktop templates. Each is pre-configured for ExoClick popunder traffic (advertiser ad type Popunder, Smart CPM pricing) with OS targeting already set. Pick your countries, bid, and daily budget: ClicksTracker creates the campaign on ExoClick through its API, always paused, so you can review it before it spends.

3

Use the generated Campaign URL

ClicksTracker builds the Campaign URL for you. It carries the campaign ID plus the ExoClick tokens you mapped:

https://track.yourdomain.com/click?cid=42&eid={conversions_tracking}&v0={zone_id}&v1={site_id}
ParameterCarries
cidYour ClicksTracker campaign ID.
eidExoClick's click id, {conversions_tracking}, stored as the click's external_id for the return postback.
v0, v1The zone and site IDs ({zone_id}, {site_id}), captured into the custom variables.

ExoClick's click id is long, 150 to 700 characters. ClicksTracker keeps it whole, because ExoClick rejects a shortened one. Other ExoClick tokens you can map into v2 to v9: {campaign_id}, {variation_id}, {country}, {format}, {actual_cost}.

4

Capture zones in v0 to v9

With the zone IDs in a custom variable, your reports break performance down by zone. That is what zone optimization uses: ClicksTracker finds the zones that spend without converting and blocks them through the ExoClick API.

5

Set the conversion postbacks

Inbound: in your affiliate network, point the postback at your ClicksTracker conversion URL (Settings, Tracking Setup has ready made templates for ten networks).

Outbound: In ExoClick, open Campaigns, Conversion Tracking, create a conversion goal of the type Conversion Tracking API (S2S) and copy its goal ID. Then use this outbound postback URL in ClicksTracker:

http://s.magsrv.com/tag.php?goal=YOUR_GOAL_ID&tag={external_id}&value={payout}

ExoClick uses the value only for a goal with a dynamic value, and answers OK or an error message in plain text. ClicksTracker fills {external_id} with the ExoClick click id stored on the click, and {payout} with the conversion's payout. See the postback setup guide for every macro.

6

Launch and optimize

Start the campaign, watch conversions arrive in real time, and use the zone breakdown to block weak zones and scale the ones that convert, all from one dashboard.
