Getting Started with ClicksTracker

From an empty account to your first tracked click and conversion: the seven steps every pop and push campaign needs, in the order the dashboard expects them.

Before you start

You need an account with at least one traffic source and one affiliate network or offer. The whole setup takes about fifteen minutes; each step names the page in the dashboard where it happens.

Step by step

1

Add your traffic source

Open Traffic Sources and create one. For ExoClick, PropellerAds, Galaksion, Adsterra and TrafficStars, connect the API so ClicksTracker can create campaigns and run the automation; the network guides below show each one's tokens.

Set the external ID token to the traffic source's click id macro and map its zone token to a custom variable such as v0.

2

Add your offer

Open Offers and paste the offer URL from your affiliate network. Add the network's sub id parameter with {click_id} as its value, so the network receives each click's id; for example aff_sub={click_id} on CrakRevenue.

Settings, Tracking Setup shows the right parameter for ten networks under Network Templates.

3

Send conversions back to ClicksTracker

On the same Tracking Setup page, pick your affiliate network and copy the postback URL into the network's postback settings. Networks that report every status should send approved conversions only; the template says how.

4

Create a flow and a campaign

Open Flows to set up where visitors go (one offer, or several offers rotated by weight), then Campaigns to tie the traffic source to the flow. For the five integrated networks, the traffic source's Auto-Create tab can instead create the campaigns from templates, both here and on the network, once the flow exists. A landing page you host yourself never goes into a flow: add it under Landing Pages with the offers its buttons lead to, then copy its entry URL from the campaign page.

5

Put the Campaign URL into your traffic source

Copy the Campaign URL into your traffic source campaign. For a branded link, generate a tracking domain on Settings, Domains first; every plan includes several.

6

Check one click and one conversion

Open the Campaign URL yourself, then find the click in Clicks & Conversions Log. Fire a test conversion from your affiliate network and check it arrives with the same click id.

7

Turn on the automation

On the traffic source's page, use the Zone Optimization, Auto-Pause, Set Bids and Boost Bids tabs on the campaigns you created with its Auto-Create tab. Auto-Create makes every campaign paused (Adsterra campaigns also wait for Adsterra's own moderation), so start each one from the tracker when you are ready. Auto-Pause by ROI loads a list that you select from and confirm, and only Zone Optimization has a Schedule button. They run through the traffic source's API on every plan.
