How to Track TrafficStars Traffic

ClicksTracker has a native TrafficStars integration for popunder and push campaigns. Connect your account, launch from a ready made template, and capture ad spot IDs in your custom variables so every conversion traces back to the ad spot that produced it.

What you will set up

A TrafficStars traffic source holding your credentials, a campaign from a template, a Campaign URL that carries TrafficStars's tokens, and a two way postback so conversions reach both ClicksTracker and TrafficStars. You will use the ten custom tracking variables, v0 through v9, to record ad spot and site data.

Step by step

1

Add TrafficStars as a traffic source

Go to Traffic Sources, click Add Traffic Source, put TrafficStars in the name and click Create Traffic Source. ClicksTracker reads the network from the name when the traffic source is created, so the Integration tab appears, and a later rename does not change the network. Open the new traffic source, go to that tab, paste the API key from your TrafficStars profile page into the API Token field and click Save Credentials. Saving does not call TrafficStars, so click Test Connection to validate the key against the TrafficStars API.

Set the external ID token to TrafficStars's click id, {click_id}, and map custom variables to the tokens you want to record, for example v0 = {adspot_id} and v1 = {site_id}. You set these on the traffic source's Settings tab and save them with Update Traffic Source; the create form has the same fields in its Traffic Source Parameters table, where Add Variable adds a custom variable row.

2

Create a campaign from a template

Use the iOS, Android, or Desktop templates on the CPM model; ClicksTracker looks up the popunder format and OS ids through the TrafficStars API. Choose your countries, bid, and daily budget, and ClicksTracker creates the campaign.

3

Use the generated Campaign URL

ClicksTracker builds the Campaign URL for you. It carries the campaign ID plus the TrafficStars tokens you mapped:

https://track.yourdomain.com/click?cid=42&eid={click_id}&v0={adspot_id}&v1={site_id}
ParameterCarries
cidYour ClicksTracker campaign ID.
eidTrafficStars's click id, {click_id}, stored as the click's external_id for the return postback.
v0, v1The ad spot and site IDs ({adspot_id}, {site_id}), captured into the custom variables.

TrafficStars calls its zones ad spots. {cost} is only filled on CPC, CPA and Popunder DCPM campaigns; {price} is your bid. Other TrafficStars tokens you can map into v2 to v9: {campaign_id}, {creative_id}, {format}, {geo}, {os}, {price}.

4

Capture ad spots in v0 to v9

With the ad spot IDs in a custom variable, your reports break performance down by ad spot. That is what zone optimization uses: ClicksTracker finds the ad spots that spend without converting and blocks them through the TrafficStars API.

5

Set the conversion postbacks

Inbound: in your affiliate network, point the postback at your ClicksTracker conversion URL (Settings, Tracking Setup has ready made templates for ten networks).

Outbound: In TrafficStars, open Tracking Tools, choose a custom tracker and press Generate: the URL already contains your advertiser key. Use it in ClicksTracker with the click id and payout macros:

https://tsyndicate.com/api/v1/cpa/action?clickid={external_id}&value={payout}&key=YOUR_ADVERTISER_KEY

Send the payout in value; the price parameter reports your own cost on CPA campaigns. ClicksTracker fills {external_id} with the TrafficStars click id stored on the click, and {payout} with the conversion's payout. See the postback setup guide for every macro.

6

Launch and optimize

Start the campaign, watch conversions arrive in real time, and use the ad spot breakdown to block weak ad spots and scale the ones that convert, all from one dashboard.
